Description

The Methodist University Athletic Department is inviting applications for the position of Associate Head Athletic Trainer. This is a full time 12month staff position. The approximate start date for this position will be August 1 2025.

The Associate Head Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Director of Athletic Training Services/Head Athletic Trainer and is independently responsible for the daytoday sports medicine/athletic training operations of one or more of the Methodist Universitys twenty varsity NCAA Division III athletic teams. The Associate Head Athletic Trainer will also assist with the daily operation and administrative duties of the Athletic Training Department. As well as assist with the leadership of the athletic training department and the mentoring of Assistant Athletic Trainers. Normal duties include but are not limited to:

  • Independently oversee all sports medicine operations for assigned teams
  • Prevention Evaluation Treatment and Rehabilitation of studentathlete injuries and illnesses within the Universitys comprehensive sports medicine program
  • Maintain accurate complete and precise documentation
  • Completing required insurance claims
  • Daily interaction and communication with coaching staff
  • Work closely with/have good work working relationship team orthopedic practice/team physicians
  • Schedule and coordinate medical appointments
  • Maintain communication with Student Health Services for nonorthopedic illnesses
  • Advocate and provide resources for nutritional and mental health
  • Implement Methodist policies
  • Attending designated team practices/events
  • Travel/Coverage of away events; pending sport assignment
  • Maintenance/Upkeep of Athletic Training equipment and facilities

Administrative Duties include but not limited to:

  • Assisting with fulltime & parttime staff management leadership and mentoring
  • Scheduling
  • Yearly updating of Emergency Action Plans; Policy & Procedures

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree from a CAATE accredited program
  • Prior experience as an athletic trainer required four years of fulltime experience preferred
  • Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
  • North Carolina State Athletic Trainer License or eligible
  • BLS CPR Certification
