EARLY CHILDHOODDIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development MA preferred.
  • Michigan elementary certificate with a minimum of five 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Previous program or building leadership experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Administrative Certification.
  • Experience with GSRP programming and state/federal grant processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity and experience with the State of Michigan DHHS (LARA) Licensing.
  • Knowledge preschool curriculum and evidence based best and emerging practices in Early Childhood education.
  • Skill in fostering strong parentschool partnerships.
  • Excellent communication group leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and function independently.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the community.
  • Demonstrates qualities of professional leadership among teachers parents and students.

TITLE: EARLY CHILDHOODDIRECTOR

REPORTS TO:Assistant Superintendent of Early Childhood and Elementary Education

SUPERVISES:All aspects of the Early Childhood Programs including GSRP Head Start and tuition based general education preschool programs.

JOB GOAL: To provide for the safety and welfare needs of early childhood age children in a wholesome environment and to manage classrooms and facilities housing early childhood programming.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Administers early childhood programs meeting all LARA requirements and safety standards.

  2. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of child development and Early Childhood Curriculum
  3. Leads monitors and supports curriculum implementation including best instructional practices.
  4. Leads development supervision and evaluation of instruction and staff development
  5. Coordinates preventative safety across all program areas and facilities.
  6. Provides staff meetings and trainings according to licensing regulations
  7. Recruits trains and supervises preschool personnel making employment recommendations
  8. Prepares and administers early childhood budgets (tuition and GSRP programs)
  9. Recommends qualified candidates and provides orientation for new staff
  10. Promotes staff initiative innovation and selfimprovement
  11. Proactively addresses disciplinary matters in preschool classrooms and programming
  12. Balances office/financial management with instructional leadership
  13. Prepares and updates program schedules and operational rules
  14. Strengthens community relationships and communication with staff and parents
  15. Acts as liaison for parent concerns and special requests
  16. Maintains Districtowned equipment and develops preventative maintenance plans
  17. Oversees timely and efficient client invoicing procedures
  18. Authorizes purchases within budgetary limitations and District rules
  19. Leads preschool marketing efforts for current and future enrollment
  20. Participates in Early Childhood leadership networks at county and state levels
  21. Advocates for Early Childhood education and future focused programming
  22. Collaborates with other Rochester Community Schools program staff
  23. Serves on committees supporting district initiatives
  24. Performs other duties as assigned.
