Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $95000.00 - $101295.00

THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CANDIDATES WHO ARE PERMANENT (NOT PROVISIONAL) IN THE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE OF ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES.

YOU MUST BE A CURRENT EMPLOYEE OF THE ADMINISTRATION FOR CHILDENS SERVICES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

The Division of Prevention Services (DPS) and its network of contracted providers deliver one of the largest and most diverse continuum of community-based child welfare prevention services in the nation and across New York City to improve safety wellbeing and permanency for thousands of families and children each year. DPS focuses on systems improvement innovation and strategy initiatives that require collaboration with major stakeholders to address urgent or emerging provider and family needs city or state mandates and high priority strategic goals of ACS leadership.

The Office of Program Management and Sustainability (OPMS) oversees a portfolio of multi-stakeholder (internal intergovernmental and external) prevention strategy improvement and innovation projects. This includes a mix of service provider legal finance procurement compliance policy/regulation (city state and federal) technology and data analysis stakeholder groups and topic areas.

OPMS oversees the Technical Assistance Team as they assist Prevention Providers by connecting them to our partners at other city agencies respond to multiple requests connecting providers to stakeholders for children and families receiving Preventive Services navigating challenges with families in shelter/community and supporting provider agencies in adhering to ACS policies and best practice around case practice guidelines.

Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Case Practice the Deputy Director of Technical Assistance responsibilities include:

-Lead all the work that the team is responsible for
-Provide guidance and oversight of subordinates.
-Actively work to promote and recognize subordinates work performance.
-Keep the work up to date on projects and deliverables
-Provide corrective action promote team discussions and provide constructive feedback where appropriate.
-Take responsibility for retrieving the teams work from DPS one Stop and making work assignments to staff.
-Assure that all projects and tasks are tracked triaged adequately addressed and completed in a timely manner.
-Meet regularly with division colleagues internal senior leadership and external partners to discuss the progress challenges and status of agency wide housing efforts.
-Participate in group discussion by presenting ideas and feedback.
-Be active participant in housing trainings and housing thought groups.
-Oversee all of the Community Coordinators housing efforts.
-Oversee the implementation of the critical Housing Pilot
-Lead and guides the team of Community Coordinators with the facilitation of transfers from one Preventive program to another.
-Assist team with general inquiries as needed.
-Assure staff is adhering to time and leave policy.
-Prepare evaluations.
-Participate in Special Projects assigned to OPTA.
-Actively participate in group and individual supervision.
-Produce monthly reports.

ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR OF SOC - 1005C


Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience including one year at the administrative or managerial level in a large governmental agency business firm civic or community organization operating in the area of social services; or

2. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above. However all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and the one year of experience at the administrative or management level as described in 1 above.
