Job Description

Position Criteria:

  • Valid Iowa Administrator license
  • Masters degree in Education related field
  • Evaluator Approval Certification
  • Experience in a certified (teaching) role required

Essential Functions:

  • Develop meaningful relationships with all stakeholders In everything they do they develop & build relationships which leads itself to 100 of the work they do.
  • Manage Special Education Programming create student rosters (Currently 140 IEPs students served) develop student schedules create coteaching assignments ensure CPI (Student Restraint) Training is current for employees Hire/Assign Associates Hire Teachers Attend IEP (Individual Plan) meetings oversee 12 Programming lead Special Ed Department Meetings review chapter 103 reporting and training lead AEA collaboration/meetings oversee new 4333 legislation collaborate with district office personnel attend Special Ed PLCs handle concerns of staff/students/parents
  • Lead Fine Arts Programming Hire and evaluate staff manage ensemble enrollment create big picture vision for new ensembles as needed manage extracurricular assignments Provide support in this area to district personnel (including Auditorium Manager) oversee scheduling of events and performance spaces
  • Oversee Student Services Lead Student Services Weekly Meetings Guide Student Services Professional Responsibilities Support Professional Development of Counselors/AtRisk Personnel Support AtRisk Answer Student Services Questions Handle Concerns of Staff/Students/Parents Etc.
  • Manage Various PowerSchool Functions ensure transcripts are accurate store grades each reporting period manage incomplete reports manage failure reports (share with Activities Dept. for eligibility) schedule students and staff as needed create student services reports (i.e. Academic Difficulty and Attendance) manage log entries create new courses as needed
  • Create and continuously update various documents to support the high school and its stakeholders Student Handbook HS Course Guide Registration Paperwork etc.
  • Provide support to other departments as directed by Principal (Currently FCS School To Work and Business) support staff with any questions attend Perkins Meetings support state reporting manage staff concerns
  • Answer various staff questions regarding concerns scheduling budget questions students etc.
  • Assist with Section 504 Student Accommodations Provide support to Assistant Principals review new student 504s answer parent/student/staff concerns manage various 504s due to extensive support needs
  • Support evening and weekend needs i.e. staff cant access buildings bus doesnt arrive building questions student needs student trip emergencies etc.
  • Assist with long range planning and daily decisions dealing with WHS as needed to support Principal
  • Assist with overall student behavior system including Review Good Conduct Policy collaborate on effective usage of consequences communicate with students and families monitor events and areas of building
  • Hold 1on1 meetings with staff members
  • Attend PLCs (Content Specific Groups)
  • Lead staff meetings and department meetings
  • Participate in Building Leadership Teams
  • Communicate with various District personnel to support staff at WHS
  • Send Parent Communication
  • Conduct Community Events (i.e. Registration Orientation etc.
  • Assist with professional development of teaching staff Collaborate with the administrative team Counselors and Instructional Coaches
  • Evaluate teaching staff Conduct formal observations and walkthroughs
  • Evaluate Classified Staff Collaborate with other staff to complete yearly evaluations
  • Hire certified staff and classified staff
  • Assist with absence management Communicate with principal and secretary to ensure coverage for teachers and associates daily
  • Supervise events after hours on weekends and summer would include all HS academics activities & athletics on school grounds shared amongst the 4 administrators depending on how many people/students plan to show up to the event.
  • Manage course registration process and assist with master schedule
  • Support counselors students families and advisors with course selection
  • Assist with creating master schedule
  • Provide Principal with reports regarding course registration numbers and FTE needs
  • Collaborate with DMACC review data create new courses and schedule off campus classes in PowerSchool handle questions/concerns etc.
  • Assist with Safety and Security Collaborate with administration and district personnel to maintain a safe environment for all stakeholders
  • Respond to student and staff emergencies
