Job Description


SchoolBased Administrator



The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is seeking a competent confident motivated individual to fill the position of SchoolBased Administrator. In this role you will provide ongoing direction and support to all teachers and support staff in the school to maintain safe learning and working conditions and to ensure that the learning program is appropriately delivered and monitored.

The ADEA is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan: Black Lake First Nation Hatchet Lake First Nation and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1400 students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology progressively piloting programs and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum.

This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications knowledge and skills to meet the requirements as stated for the position.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


  • To establish clear instructional direction for the school and to support a positive learning climate in the context of the Athabasca Denesuline culture and language.
  • To support teachers and support staff in meeting the needs of students through effective planning instruction and assessment.
  • To support teachers and support staff in developing teaching practices that recognize and accommodate diversity within the classroom the school and the community.
  • To demonstrate a professional level of knowledge about the curriculum and the skills and judgment required to apply this knowledge effectively.
  • To oversee the delivery of the provincial curriculum in the school conscientiously and diligently taking into account the context for teaching and learning provided by students the school and the community.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


  • Candidate much establish a strong at building relationships with staff students and their families and community.
  • Candidate that believes in the importance of having traumainformed classrooms.
  • Candidate that honours Indigenous teachings and diversity to promote a culture of respect is important.
  • Candidate that has a leadership experience around differentiation and interventions to meet the needs of each individual would be considered an asset.
  • It is important for candidates to be able to: Lead Learning (Instructional Leadership) Set Vision and Provide Direction Secure Caring and Respectful Schools Develop People and Build Relationships Strengthen the Educational Community (through working with parents and other agencies) and embrace a culture of change improvement for leading edge results.
  • Candidate must possess well developed interpersonal skills be energetic can take initiative and work independently with a positive and supportive attitude in a team environment.
  • Candidates other skills and abilities such as: team building and collaboration take direction organizational skills computer literacy in circulation and cataloguing.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelors Degree in Education and ideally a Masters Degree in Education Leadership or equivalent
  • Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.
  • Experience in teaching First Nations students at a remote community would be an asset.
  • A strong belief in and commitment to First Nations education.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers such as word processing Excel and database systems.
