Job Description

TITLE: Special Education Assistant

REPORTS TO: Special Education Teacher and Principal

LENGTH OF CONTRACT OR WORK YEAR: 9 months 187 days)

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist the special education or regular education teacher in all phases of classroom activities to meet the needs of special education students.

2. Assists the special education teacher in implementing the components of each childs Individual Education Plan (IEP).

3. Assists the special education teacher in providing for the physical needs of the children in the class such as helping with toilet procedures assisting in feeding the children and attending to their individual needs.

4. Performs other duties as assigned by the special education director teacher and/or principal.

5. Regular in person attendance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have completed at least 2 years of study 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education;or

2. Obtained an associates (or higher) degree;or

3. Met a rigorous standard of quality as determined by a formal assessment. WorkKeys Test Reading for Information score of 4 Applied Mathematics score of 4 and Writing or Business Writing score of 3; OR WorkKeys Silver Level certification: Workplace Documents score of 4 Applied Mathematics score of 4 and a Writing or Business Writing score of 3.
