Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking a talented and motivated MidLevel Electrical Engineer to join our Commercial Modifications Engineering team in Long Beach California. In this role you will play a crucial part in the development and maintenance of electrical product details assembly and installation designs for a diverse range of commercial aircraft from the McDonnell Douglas MD series to the stateoftheart Boeing 777X.

In this dynamic position you will leverage your expertise to design and implement electrical installation solutions that enhance aircraft capabilities and operational efficiency. You will work on projects that involve retrofitting existing aircraft with advanced connectivity systems optimizing electrical layouts and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of aircraft enabling our customers to maintain competitive advantages in the aviation market.

In addition to technical responsibilities you will have the opportunity to engage with customers understanding their unique operational challenges and providing tailored solutions that enhance their fleets capabilities. This customercentric approach is essential in fostering longterm relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Occasional travel 10 may be required in support of the program and customer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems including equipment racks power panels cable routing and antenna configurations
  • Create and maintain detailed designs for cable and wire harness assemblies
  • Works with customers and suppliers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements
  • Document processes specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacturing of electrical commodities
  • Review supplier technical data to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Provide inservice technical support and troubleshooting to airlines and modification sites
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers in an agile environment utilizing the latest tools and methodologies to deliver innovative solutions
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science
  • 3 years of engineering experience
  • Ability to travel 10 of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Analytical Skills (Technical)

  • Skill and ability to: collect organize synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources

Engineering Drawings and Specs

  • Ability to read understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g. blueprint/schematic reading specification change design)

Computer Aided Design Tools

  • Knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g. computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA) Mentor Graphics Unigraphics)

Engineering Judgment

  • Exercises engineering judgment in developing appropriate decisions considering decision criteria implications and possible consequences to ensure product design integrity
  • Demonstrates understanding of the applicable scientific and engineering knowledge and involves others in obtaining information for the engineering decisionmaking process

Structural Design

  • Knowledge of structural design principles and practices from requirements generation to production and product support.

Systems Thinking

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the interrelationships of all positions and activities in the system including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the interrelationships between components of systems and plans anticipate future events and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance

Certification and Qualification

  • Knowledge of verification validation certification and qualification processes and procedures (e.g. DO160 and D6 requirements) including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance

EMI/EMC

  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical/electronic design (e.g. wire harness design grounding and shielding design techniques lightning protection)
