Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teaching Consultant
On behalf of the Central Alberta Low Incidence Cooperative Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is seeking a parttime teacher consultant to support educational programming for children who are deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) within Central Alberta.
Key responsibilities will be to provide consultation to school staff by:
suggesting modifications to the classroom environment
recommending adaptations/accommodations to curriculum and strategies for curriculum access
assisting teachers in the development of IPP goals and strategies
providing recommendations for educational resources
interpreting audiology reports for school staff and
providing information and strategies for social skill development and selfadvocacy.
The successful candidate will have:
education and/or experience in DHH teaching/learning
a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle
ability to work virtually as well as in person
excellent communication skills both verbal and written
strong time management skills and
ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team.
Preference will be given to a candidate with an education degree as well as graduate work in DHH although candidates without a teaching degree but with relevant knowledge and experience are invited to apply. Expertise in American Sign Language Signed Exact English and/or CASE is an asset.

Ability to commute and/or relocate to Red Deer.
The position will remain open until May 15 or until a suitable candidate has been found.
This position works for multiple school jurisdictions therefore it is not a requirement of this position to be Catholic.
