You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa is seeking a Research Assistant Specimen Procurement to coordinate the collection storage and processing of biospecimens related to translational and clinical related research protocols or laboratory investigations within Holden Comprehensive Cancer Centers Clinical Research Services (CRS) Biospecimen and Molecular Epidemiology Resource Shared Resource (BioMER) teams and investigators throughout the institution. Including but not limited to Interventional Clinical Trials the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) Patients Enhancing Research Collaborations at Holden (PERCH) Molecular Epidemiology Resources (MER) and Tissue Procurement Core (TPC). Activities include the systematic organization of storage and retrieval information as well as data entry of the storage locations within protocol specified databases. The individual in this position is responsible for performing laboratory procurement processing storage and related data entry for human subjects research projects as assigned working closely with crossfunctional teams as described previously.

Not just a floor or a building or even confined to a single college. Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center coordinates all cancerrelated research education and patient care by faculty from 41 departments and six colleges as well as UI Hospitals and Clinics and UI Childrens Hospital.
Percent of Time: 100
Work Schedule: Monday Friday Hours generally worked between 8:00am5pm
Pay Grade: 3A
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in performing basic research in a health science field or discipline.
2. Relevant experience in the conduct of clinical lab patient care or clinical research studies.
3. Experience with specimen lab processing.
4. Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
5. Knowledge of computerbased programs and databases.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and procedures associated with human subject research.
2. Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment performing multiple tasks while meeting core and facility objectives.
3. Demonstrated experience with procurement of human tissues and specimens and data.
4. Knowledge of University of Iowa policies procedures and regulations.
