Position Summary: The Family Life Specialist will provide support and resources for the growth and development of each child through instructing counseling and directing them in matters of personal conduct hygiene appearance social skills school routines and work habits. The Family Life Specialist should foster the physical spiritual and emotional needs of each child. The FLS will also provide safe and responsible transportation for youth and family members (VIPs) and other Childrens Home affiliates as required by program expectations while maintaining safe and appropriate behaviors for all passengers. The Family Life Specialist will prepare youngsters for successful living within societal norms toward improving family relationships reunification with family or independent living.
Responsibilities:
- Provide for the safety and wellbeing of children in care through knowledge and supervision of their whereabouts and the judicious use of discipline and therapeutic crisis intervention.
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationship with the children and their families that are responsive to their needs and that are in accordance with the established treatment plan/UCR.
- Promote the growth of parentchild relationships as indicated by that plan as well as the agency s philosophy of familycentered practice.
- Assure the health and safety of children in care by the timely identification and effective communication of all behavioral emotional or medical needs.
- Confer regularly with the Director Case Planners foster parents and primary workers as needed on each child s and family s individual and group progress.
- Attend all required trainings staff meetings and supervision.
Requirements
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred
Experience:
- 3 years of experience with a high school diploma required
- 1 year of experience plus a college degree preferred
- Drivers License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment
