Key job responsibilities
Develop advanced structural demand and econometric frameworks for products and services in Amazon Devices.
Create and drive the scientific roadmap for the team and influence partner science teams
Drive crossfunctional collaboration with scientists engineers and business leaders to integrate economic insights into strategic decisionmaking processes and shape future initiatives.
Communicate insights in writing and verbally to senior leaders on Product and Finance teams within the company.
Actively mentor junior scientists on advanced econometric techniques.
About the team
This role is in the Subscription Science team a crossfunctional team in Amazon Devices that focuses on developing science models to inform major oneway door decisions that lead to customer facing changes for our products and services and using these insights to help product teams focus efforts on improving products for their customers.
We do this by building worldclass demand models which provide pricing recommendations for these organizations and help inform critical business investment decisions frequently presenting results to the highest levels of leadership in the organization.
In addition to the primary job location we are open to considering locations near major Amazon hubs including but not limited to Arlington VA (HQ2 near DC).
PhD in economics or equivalent
Experience in econometrics (e.g. program evaluation forecasting time series panel data or high dimensional problems) economic theory and quantitative methods
Experience in building statistical models using R Python STATA or a related software
Experience in industry consulting government or academic research
Experience in developing and executing an analytic vision to solve businessrelevant problems
Experience working with software developers and product managers
Written and verbal communications skills to convey complicated scientific results to business partners and senior leadership.
Strong publication and presentation record in toptier economic public policy statistical or ML publications and conferences.
Demonstrable experience in any of the following areas of applied economics structural demand modeling preferred empirical industrialorganization conjoint modeling and survey design.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
