Job Title: Director Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP)
Job Status: Fulltime
Job Summary: Under general direction with a high level of autonomy the Director of the Center for Arab American Philanthropy uses extensive knowledge of the Arab American community philanthropic fund management as well as skills obtained through experience and/or formal training to guide and lead the development of the only Arab American community foundation. In this role the Director will build and manage critical relationships engage the community in strategic philanthropy and increase the visibility and viability of CAAP as it aims to build vibrant societies by uniting and strengthening the collective power of Arab American giving. This employee will oversee all aspects of CAAPs operations including but not limited to fundraising donor development grantmaking asset growth strategic direction and brand expansion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with ACCESS leadership CAAP Advisory Board and other relevant stakeholders to determine vision and strategic direction for the institution
- Develop effective relationships with Advisory Board including informing board members of all major CAAP initiatives and activities; providing timely and complete reports to board members; educating board members regarding trends in community philanthropy and needs within nonprofit organizations
- Work with ACCESS senior leadership and Advisory Board to develop and implement a comprehensive fund development strategy including inspiring a community of philanthropists to use CAAPs charitable mechanisms such as donoradvised funds giving circles and impact area funds to support the causes they care about
- Represent CAAP with major donors prospects and partners to establish sustain and expand trusting relationships with donors and foster giving to and through CAAP
- Demonstrate integrity and credibility with donors maintaining information in a confidential and professional manner
- Ensure responsive relationships with donors and be responsible for a donor relations plan aimed at meeting donor needs and expectations and strengthening CAAPs family of funds
- Represent CAAP and ACCESS to donors funders media the community and various stakeholders in a wide variety of settings including interviews conferences and convenings in order to showcase the power of strategic philanthropy and promote giving to and through CAAP
- Develop strong partnerships with other foundations nonprofit agencies the business community and private donors particularly to identify vital community needs
- Expand brand awareness of CAAP as a valuable community institution
- Promote CAAPs family of funds events and programs to the community and stakeholders
- Oversee the administration of CAAPs grantmaking programs and processes
- Meet with current and prospective CAAP fundholders and partners to develop new fund agreements provide fund updates and assist with fund development and asset growth
- Oversee and expand community programs and resources such as the Teen Grantmaking Initiative
- Provide highlevel oversight and direction for all CAAP initiatives turning vision into actionable strategies
- Provide financial oversight and monitoring including overseeing CAAPs incoming revenue and asset growth consistent with CAAPs strategic plan
- Develop and lead an effective efficient and innovative team
- Maintain and grow local regional and national philanthropic partnerships
- Coach and mentor subordinates
- Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Advanced concepts principles and practices of fundraising/development and philanthropy
- The Arab American community history and language is highly preferred
- Grantmaking strategies and due diligence procedures
- Budget management including creating and maintaining a budget
- Community resources including other organizations and services designed to support philanthropic networks
- Various charitable giving mechanisms
- Donor relations and stewardship

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
- Minimum Degree Required:
- Bachelors degree
- Masters degree preferred
- Required Disciplines:
- Business Marketing Public Relations Public Administration Arab Studies or related field
and
- At least five years of management experience in a development or nonprofit environment with a proven track record of success in resource development
- Knowledge and a deep commitment to the Arab American community and its values are required
- Previous fundraising experience with a track record of successfully meeting development quotas is required
- Any equivalent combination of experience education and/or training approved by Human Resources
