The Research Strategy Office (RSO) plays a key role in delivering on the universitys Progress for All strategic plan by driving research thats inclusive impactful and globally relevant. We enable research that makes a difference empowers researchers from all backgrounds accelerates global engagement and boosts innovation and excellence: We support big bold research ideasfrom concept to funding to impactaligning with UNSWs mission to lead in innovation and research excellence.
The Research Development Manager (Strategic Initiatives) will help lead the strategic development of major research initiatives and proposalsespecially those aimed at government philanthropic organisations and other major funders both in Australia and internationally.
Youll build strong working relationships with researchers funding bodies and potential partners and have the opportunity to contribute to the development of strategic plans and improve how we workthrough smarter processes clearer policies and effective collaboration across the RSO Division of Research and Faculties.
Youll report to the Associate Director RSO and while you wont manage a team directly youll be working with a wide range of stakeholders to get things done.

Who you are
You can demonstrate your highlevel knowledge and understanding of the higher education sector and the research environment and funding schemes including experience in the strategic review and preparation of proposals in a major research or Government portfolio.
Youll also have high level communication project management and time management skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines in high volume environments as well as problem solving and analytical skills the ability to research and analyse material and identify key issues to produce high level outcomes in both autonomous and teambased activities.
