**THE SEMINOLE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE IS OFFERING A $15000 HIRING INCENTIVE FOR CERTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WITH AT LEAST 4 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE**

The Seminole County Sheriffs Office is now accepting applications for the position of EXPERIENCED DEPUTY SHERIFF SCHOOL RESOURCE DEPUTY.

To be eligible for the hiring incentive applicants must have four 4 years of experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer.
The hiring incentive of $15000 will be broken down as follows:
$5000 First paycheck
$4000 After 1 year of employment
$3000 After 2 years of employment
$2000 After 3 years of employment
$1000 After 4 years of employment

Applicants eligible for the hiring incentive who successfully gain employment with SCSO as a Deputy Sheriff will be required to sign an employment agreement committing them to maintaining employment with SCSO for one 1 year. If the employment agreement is broken the employee will be required to reimburse SCSO the first $15000 hiring incentive payment of $5000.

The Deputy Sheriff assigned to School Safety (School Resources DeputySRD) involves providing law enforcement and other community and educational support services to the Seminole County Schools and the surrounding community. This role provides opportunities for personal and professional development enhancing skills in communication conflict resolution and crisis management. SRDs receive additional enhanced training including but not limited to tactical single response active threat training hands on experience with emerging school technologies and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of training opportunities and enrichment.

Typical Duties

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES: The duties listed below are in addition to the duties assigned under the associated job description. All Deputy Sheriff positions shall conform to the minimum standards as set forth in the Deputy Sheriff job description.

REFERENCEDEPUTY SHERIFFVIAJOB DESCRIPTIONS

Interface with students during class presentations class breaks meal periods before and after school.

Assist school personnel to design and coordinate protection/security/response strategies for large and special events held on school properties. (These include but are not limited to graduations athletic events musical events assemblies protests and walkouts. This also includes events that are sponsored by community groups and held on school properties.

Assist school personnel to ensure that visitor management practices policies and procedures are followed and that school grounds (campuses) are safe.

Assist school personnel in the annual physical audits and safety/security assessments of school campuses and buildings. Recommend corrective action to the school administration and the Department of School Safety & Security.

Assist school personnel with the emergency management requirements associated with the opening of schools as shelters during emergencies.

Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employees duties for this position to include schedules work hours and required training activities calls for mandatory overtime needs and call for service during times of an emergency.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment for this position is in a Sheriffs Office marked emergency vehicle. The incumbent drives a vehicle and extensive walking is required when not in the vehicle.

Shift work (days or nights) with rotating days off including working weekends nights holidays and/or overtime; May be required to respond for any critical incident manmade or natural; must be able to appropriately wear and operate personal protective equipment as assigned for their role

Environmental Exposure to varied weather conditions

External applicants for employment will submit to a thorough background investigation which includes but not limited to past employment/education verification driver license review credit history prior drug use history arrest/conviction record and computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA) testing. A certified examiner administers the CVSA with questions addressing illegal drug use and general questions of honesty and criminal history. Any dishonesty or deception on the Employment Application will disqualify your application.

The background investigation process may take 36 months depending upon the complexity of the applicants background and position for which youve applied. Applicants selected for employment will be provided a conditional offer and required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.

Candidates must also comply with the Agencys current Tattoo and Body Ornamentation Policy. A copy of
General Order 28 Dress and Appearance can be accessed here. An applicants tattoos and body ornamentation must be disclosed at the time of application and will be documented as part of the agencys review process even if otherwise meeting the Agencys policy.
