What do you offer

Reporting to the Manager of Philanthropy and Outreach the Development Specialist Events and Partnerships plays a pivotal role in supporting the Ys philanthropy and community engagement initiatives. This position will focus on planning and executing highimpact events and cultivating strong partnerships with foundations and corporate partners. The Development Specialist will be responsible for managing event logistics crafting grant proposals and ensuring seamless of fundraising efforts that drive donor participation community outreach and longterm support.

In addition this role will involve collaborating closely with the Manager of Philanthropy and Outreach to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholdersincluding donors sponsors community partners and volunteersensuring that events and partnerships align with organizational goals and maximize impact. The Development Specialist will also work with internal teams to develop promotional materials coordinate outreach efforts and track the success of events and partnerships to inform future engagement strategies.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Managing event logistics crafting grant proposals and ensuring seamless of fundraising efforts that drive donor participation community outreach and longterm support.
  • Designing and executing events that align with the organizations fundraising outreach and community engagement goals.
  • Developing grant proposals that align with the Ys strategic goals focusing on funding needs and community impact.
  • Managing event budgets negotiating with vendors tracking expenses and ensuring that sponsorship benefits are fulfilled.
  • Managing eventrelated expenses ensuring they stay within the approved budget including tracking costs identifying costsaving opportunities and ensuring that all vendor contracts and purchases are justifiable.
  • Collaborating closely with the Manager of Philanthropy and Outreach to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders including donors sponsors community partners and volunteers.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Postsecondary education or equivalent in a related field

Language

  • Fluent in English oral and written
  • Bilingual (English/French) is desirable

Experience Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising nonprofit development or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing events of various sizes including logistics coordination vendor management and sponsorship fulfillment as well as attendee engagement and ensuring a positive experience for participants sponsors and volunteers.
  • Experience in grant writing and managing foundation relationships.
  • Strong relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Proficiency in event management software and CRM platforms (e.g. Raisers Edge Eventbrite Cvent or other relevant systems).
  • Experience developing marketing and promotional materials to drive event attendance maximize community engagement and raise awareness. This includes creating compelling content for social media email newsletters invitations and event signage.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks deadlines and priorities in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in public speaking and presentation to engage various stakeholders during events meetings and outreach initiatives.

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check not more than 6 months old is Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) if any is considered in the decisionmaking process in relation to the requirement of working with children therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Annually staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
