DSHS Psychiatric Child Care Counselor 2 Youth Counselor 2/Scheduler

As a Psychiatric Child Care Counselor 2 Scheduler youll be responsible for the implementation of daily/weekly/monthly staff schedules within the electronic system or program designed for managing leave attendance and scheduling of relief staff for the Lake Burien Youth Transitional Care Facility.
You will be part of team responsible for scheduling an adequate number of staff to meet the needs of the facility. This includes integral knowledge of the facility to include tracking of staff who are designated for Labor and Industries (L&I) leave Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). and a variety of other duties that relieve a staff member from working their respective shift.

Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility is a groundbreaking initiative backed by Washington States Department of Social and Health Services Department of Children Youth and Families MultiCare and Seattle Childrens Hospital. This cuttingedge facility thoughtfully designed with youth in mind combines therapeutic spaces onsite education and tranquil outdoor areas to foster growth and healing. With your help well empower youth aged 13 with intellectual and developmental disabilities cooccurring mental health challenges or substance use disorders to achieve stability and success. The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youth.

Opportunities performed onsite at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5 premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

King County employees receive 5 premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.

Some of what youll be doing:

  • Provide facilitywide intensive application of staffing knowledge and specialist skills in the specific segment of scheduling
  • Delegated responsibility for staff scheduling staffing and coverage for a 24hour facility
  • Manage and maintain the facility system for leave attendance and scheduling
  • Serve as the scheduling coordinator and have responsibility for troubleshooting and training other lead staff on the scheduling processes
  • Serve as the primary liaison for communicating any issues with the scheduling system to the respective parties
  • Coordinate with oncalls to ensure their unavailability for shifts is maintained monthly
  • Change oncall and permanent staff schedules in the system as needed
  • Monitor track and run reports related to staffing levels leave trends and overtime (OT) use relating to L&I coverage unexpected leave and FMLA use
  • Provide day to day coverage of sick call phone and other communications and relay changes to staffing and coverage related to staff call outs and emergent needs
  • Manage the approved vacation segments per the WFSE and SEIU Healthcare Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Create and maintains a list of qualified schedulers and trains them on call out coverage procedures
  • Act as liaison between the facility and the oncall Leader in the event of an emergency
  • Respond to youth behavioral concerns and provide observation and support to direct care staff
  • Provide technical assistance to staff in the completion of necessary incident management paperwork
  • Routinely check in and out visitors to the facility
  • Maintain the facility vehicle check out system to ensure staff are requesting vehicles appropriately so they are available when needed

Additional knowledge skills and abilities we are looking for in an applicant:
  • Work on holidays may be required
  • Overtime may be required to ensure 24/7 staffing in this office
  • This position may require evening or night work
  • Must provide physical support for clients using facilityapproved methods
  • Must be able to safely intervene to protect clients from harm to themselves or others using facility approved methods and techniques
  • Work may include driving clients to/from appointments activities etc

Who should apply:
A Person with:
  • A Bachelors degree with a major study in Social Sciences Education Recreation Psychology or related field AND one year of social service experience
OR
  • Two years as a Psychiatric Child Care Counselor 1
OR
  • Equivalent education/experience
AND
  • A current Agency Affiliated Counselor or higher counseling related credential from the Washington State Department of Health
