Equipment Operator I
REPORTS TO: Field Supervisor
HOURLY RATE: $15.80
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time
FLSA Status: NonExempt
DESCRIPTION
Responsible for operating and maintaining various types of light machinery and equipment.
This role requires attention to detail a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work
effectively as part of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED is required.
A Valid Class C Drivers License is required along with a clean driving record. Class A
CDL Texas Driver License is preferred.
Ability to obtain a C Water Distribution/Wastewater Treatment License within 36
months of hire.
One 1 year of operational experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment
and trucks.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the geographic layout of the city.
Knowledgeable about the operating characteristics methods techniques procedures
and maintenance of machines and equipment operated.
Skill in the setup and operation of tools associated with construction grading and
excavating process.
Skill in the operations of motorized/specialized equipment and vehicles for
construction repair and maintenance.
Ability to read and understand written guidelines from manuals blueprints and
regulations.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
MAJOR DUTIES
Assists in maintaining the Citys water and sewer systems infrastructure facilities and
grounds following all city ordinances state and federal regulations and procedures.
Performs skilled and semiskilled general labor maintenance and repair work.
Operates a variety of motorized/specialized equipment and vehicles for construction
repair and maintenance (e.g. backhoes bulldozers and excavators).
Inspects cleans and performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
Complete required daily logs and reports.
Is assigned to an oncall schedule as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
