The lead accountant position is responsible for accounting and reporting at AT&T as well as specific accounting policies. The role requires knowledge of GAAP accounting with experience in technical accounting and/or complex accounting topics a plus. This role is responsible for formation and updating key accounting policies and providing suggestions around enhancement of policies.

The role also supports ongoing M&A activity as well as support for various annual financial statements and audit support. Coordination with Other Accountants Treasury Tax HR Legal and others.

Additional tasks:

• Research of complex accounting topics to find precedent transactions and key accounting topics related to a potential transaction.
• Coordinate with auditors HR Finance Tax and Treasury through the annual audit process
• Prepare the pension footnote for the 10Q and 10K including documentation calculations and GAAP checklists
• Support external and internal audits as required
• Prepares journal entries maintains and reconciles ledger accounts
• Manages record of assets liabilities and financial transactions
• Ensure controls are in place and adhered to for all parts of the process.
• Account Balance Reconciliations/Balance Sheet Analysis
• Develop and maintain detailed M&Ps for all processes.

Education:

• Bachelors Degree Accounting
• Masters degree or CPA preferred.

The position requires strong data analytic and system skills. Software packages utilized:

• Excel (Power Query Power Pivot)
• Power BI (preferred)
• Business Objects

Job Contribution:

• Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an indepth evaluation of various factors.
• Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results and resolves problems.
