Job Description

Group Benefits Strategy Leader

We are currently seeking to grow our Group Benefits strategy team. This role reports to the Head of Group Benefits Strategy and Retail Segment. The team is responsible for leading the strategic planning and ongoing refinement process supporting the Group Benefits leadership team in setting the business strategy cultivating and evaluating M&A partnership and inorganic growth opportunities supporting crossenterprise strategic initiatives and developing content for strategic updates to executive leadership and board of directors.

In the highly visible role of Group Benefits Strategy Leader you will develop the short and longrange plans for the Group Benefits business and partner across the organization to identify and develop the strategy for the Group Benefits organization. You will work closely with leaders across Group Benefits commercial underwriting operations claims and service teams to identify and prioritize areas of opportunity to support future growth plans and lead crossfunctional teams to execute on strategic initiatives. .

A successful candidate in this role is able to lead large projects think transformatively to challenge the status quo drive work forward and leverage expertise and datadriven insights to make business strategy recommendations. The candidate is able to tackle broad and multifaceted business challenges communicate complex information and influence up down and across a broad and diverse organization. You will be required to utilize strategic frameworks to structure problem solving and identify solutions build quantitative and qualitative/conceptual analyses of operational and financial data leverage internal and external insights and coordinate and influence across organizations to support driving profitable growth.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with the Group Benefits Leadership Team and Head of Group Benefits Strategy to lead the annual and ongoing strategic planning process define the strategic roadmap and growth aspirations along with clear measures of success
  • Lead the assessment of crossfunctional and enterprise strategic initiatives that are critical for the longterm growth of the business by leveraging industry research internal and external factors and quantitative analysis to evaluate financial impact to the business
  • Support functional areas with business case assessment and of strategic initiatives that are high impact and crossfunctional
  • Drive the ongoing socialization of Group Benefits strategy business imperatives including supporting CEO level and Board of Director updates
  • Lead the assessment of any M&A partnership and inorganic opportunities including working with the Group Benefits leadership team and the Corporate Strategy team to perform due diligence and assess alignment with strategic imperatives

You are:

  • An excellent endtoend generalist problem solver
  • Able to lead large crossfunctional teams build relationships and navigate a matrixed organization
  • An effective and confident communicator with an outstanding ability to apply quantitative analytical approaches and develop clear recommendations for senior management
  • A selfstarter able who is to work independently and multitask with excellent prioritization skills and a clear focus on results

You have:

  • 10 years relevant work experience
  • Bachelors degree with strong academic performance and demonstrated leadership ability; MBA preferred but not required
  • Strategy consulting business management or operational experience within a financial services or management consulting firm
  • Experience leading teams and proven track record of accountability for tactical or a functional area
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with business experience in a functional area
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Group Benefits experience is a plus

You will:

  • Be exposed to and influence the agendas of Guardian senior executives
  • Develop expertise in a variety of functions across the Group Benefits business
  • Gain exposure to other roles and lines of business in the company

Location and Work Arrangement:

  • New York City (Hudson Yards) or Boston MA
  • Hybrid work arrangement: Minimum three days per week in your local Guardian Office

Salary Range:

$148940.00 $244685.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education experience knowledge and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary this role may also be eligible for annual sales or other incentive compensation.
