A LITTLE ABOUT US

Schwartz Farms Inc. was founded in 1978 and at the time was predominantly involved in crop farming. Although Schwartz Farms is still involved in farming todays primary operations are within the pork industry. Schwartz Farms Inc. employs over 550 fulltime individuals and owns sows in the upper Midwest predominantly in Minnesota Kansas Iowa South Dakota and Nebraska. We also utilize approximately 300 independent contractors. As a premier pork producer Schwartz Farms embraces itself for a challenging and rewarding future.


POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for performing Human Resources duties at administrative and professional levels. Incumbent shall carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: talent acquisition employee engagement performance management compensation and benefits training and development and compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Talent acquisition

  • Assist HR team in recruitment activities including but not limited to placing ads participating in recruitment and career fairs and supporting relationships with high schools collegiate agricultural departments and agricultural organizations
  • Process new hire paperwork and provide onboarding support of new hires

Employee engagement

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding employment policies programs etc.
  • Coordinate and/or assist with employee and/or grower outings
  • Consider content and communication opportunities for employee newsletter
  • Assist with recognition programs including disbursement of awards coordination with payroll etc.
  • Assist with mass communications including text email and mail

Performance management

  • Maintain employee records including documentation associated with hires transfers promotions performance and rate reviews warning reports development opportunities and terminations
  • Process state unemployment claims including payroll verifications appropriateness of claims denial requests and participation in unemployment hearings

Compensation & benefits

  • Assist in benefit enrollment and change forms
  • Assist in payroll processing
  • Process recognition / performance bonuses
  • Ensure privacy policies and procedures established by SFI regarding protected health information are implemented and maintained; maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment

Training & development

  • Assist in deployment of recognition programs including disbursement of awards impact to payroll etc.
  • Docket employee reviews and notify managers of upcoming and outstanding reviews on monthly basis
  • Provide training support for production directors including scheduling securing proper facilities and catering

  • Additional duties may be assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to demonstrate the SFI values of integrity respect excellence and adaptability
  • Bachelors degree in businessrelated major
  • 1 year experience
  • High degree of confidentiality professionalism and business ethics
  • Highly organized and detailoriented; able to multitask and follow through on responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills; able to represent Schwartz Farms in a positive manner to employees and general public
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

Position may involve travel and nonstandard business hours.
