You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailLifeMoves and OperationsFood Services are seeking experienced individuals for the position of FoodService Coordinator II to perform a variety of work which may include preparing serving and storingfood; developing menus ordering inspecting and stocking food and supplies assisting in maintainingthe kitchen and other dining areas in a clean and sanitary condition; performing routine tasks related todelivering food and supplies; and possibly serving food at several shelter sites. Successful hires will beplaced in under the Food Services Supervisor and may be assigned to support South Bay and may beasked to provide coverage for our North Bay shelter sitesThis position will cross train with food service operations and will assist with other operational functions
as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Duties may include but are not limited to the following
1. Share our passion of providing meals with dignity or our diverse community
2. Act as a liaison between food services and community partners/volunteers to create astructured meal plan for clients daily
3. Assist Cooks in the preparation of balanced meals as directed.
4. Knowledge of food safety.
5. Participate in menu planning to support the dietary intake and special meal accommodations ofclients
6. Implement composting practices within the organization to minimize food waste
7. Drive a truck or van to deliver food and supplies; may maintain basic records related to vehicleuse such as gas/mileage and service reports.
8. Create a healthy environment by serving clients during meal service to develop a betterrelationship with food
9. Coordinate and source food from local food banks donors including corporations restaurantsand faithbased groups.
10. Source items from the local food bank to prep cook and distribute across all sites
11. Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
12. May direct the work of clients who are assigned to clean and prepare food or assist in relatedroutine tasks defined by Program Directors
13. Survey and collect feedback from staff & clients regarding the quality of meals.
14. Maintain compliance with all food and health agency related inspections.
15. Complete monthly reporting of activities for the Second Harvest Food Bank and other partners.
Other Duties
1. Clean items used in the kitchen such as dishes pots pans containers carts and equipment.
2. Clean facilities including sweeping mopping and sanitizing work areas such as floors pantriesand warehouse and trucks; empty garbage cans.
3. Occasionally assist in cooking.
4. Assist with supplies and deliveries including signing for bringing in and/or storing items.
5. Encourage clients to make use of programs like CalFresh Snap WIC to access food.
6. Assure the proper care and maintenance of vehicle.
7. Contribute to the food service team by cross training for all positions.
8. Attend and participate in training and other continuing education career and professionaldevelopment opportunities.
9. Participate in general staff meetings 1:1s and other meetings and events planned by the FoodServices Manager.
