DescriptionCurrently Chubb is seeking a Financial Lines Underwriter for our Walnut Creek (formerly San Ramon) Branch. The ideal Underwriter will have experience handling specialty products for private companies and nonprofit organizations and must be willing to work from the Walnut Creek Branch Office.
Key Responsibilities:
The Walnut Creek Branch boasts a large agency network which allows for significant concentration on growth of our Forefront business as well as other areas. The Branch territory is expansive including reach from the Bay Area (North East and South) Sacramento Fresno and Reno. The role will include a renewal book of $2.5 million. In addition the role is responsible for generating new business each year. The successful candidate will leverage our Online Portal collaborate with New Business Underwriters and apply their own underwriting expertise to drive new business initiatives. Additionally the candidate will work closely with Renewal Underwriters to manage agency relationships and enhance the customer experience. A strong commitment to fulfilling obligations to agency partners and fostering quality relationships with agents and producers is essential. The candidate should possess a collaborative spirit and a desire to create mutually beneficial outcomes. Effective communication and the ability to cultivate positive relationships across multiple business units and organizational levels are crucial.
Major Job Functions:
- Utilize appropriate tools to underwrite new and renewal business within areas of product customer and industry expertise. Conduct indepth risk analyses and develop optimal program structures while managing less complex flow business.
- Maintain underwriting quality standards including thorough documentation related to final underwriting decisions.
- Act as the primary contact for managing the Private & NotforProfit Financial Line presence in the assigned territory with an assigned set of agents ensuring high visibility through proactive renewal communication coverage features and site visits.
- Collaborate with the Renewal Center Marketing Managers and Branch Managers on new business and retention opportunities.
- Participate in projects with Strategic Marketing and other Home Office personnel to drive field business.
- Support and collaborate on Branch distribution management activities. As part of the Branch agency planning process analyze the agencys NAFL book of business and work with the Branch NAFL Manager to establish new business goals.
- Educate agents on products services automation and underwriting standards as well as sales and marketing techniques. Participate in agent education events including CE courses and product fairs within areas of underwriting expertise.
- Inform management of coverage and product opportunities or weaknesses that may impact growth potential; gather relevant competitive information to assist in developing product recommendations.
QualificationsCritical Competencies:
- DealMaking and Negotiation:Proven ability to find creative solutions that balance the needs of insureds and producers while adhering to Chubbs North America Financial Lines underwriting standards. Recognize when to engage additional resources to close opportunities.
- Sales and Marketing:Knowledge of Chubb products competitors customers and the marketplace within the designated area of expertise. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective growth and retention strategies along with proven prospecting skills and effective use of Financial Line sales and marketing tools.
- Distribution Management:Ability to build strong agency relationships and manage expectations in changing market conditions.
- Collaboration:Ability to work collaboratively with multiple business units underwriting centers branch and home office stakeholders demonstrating effective consultation and partnership skills.
- Communication:Proven ability to differentiate the Chubb proposal by articulating (both verbally and in writing) Financial Lines strategy appetite and capabilities. Ability to listen to and understand the needs of customers.
- Experience with Lines:Familiarity with D&O EPL Fiduciary Employed Lawyers Crime Kidnap & Ransom and Workplace Violence lines of business.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in Management Liability Underwriting is strongly preferred.
The pay range for the role is $89903 to $98894. The specific offer will depend on an applicants skills and other factors.
