Job Summary:

To performa variety of financial activities including processing recording updating analyzingand reconciling fiscal information in conformance to district state federaland UFSR guidelines; and to assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to maintain alignment with federal and state and other governmental regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities:

This section outlines the primary duties and key responsibilities required for this role detailing the essential tasks and functions necessary to perform the job successfully with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Review approve/deny record and reconcile all Personnel Action Request Forms (PARFs) for funding and table of organization appropriateness
  • Reconcile district budget book to personnel pay records and table of organization; identify research and take corrective action
  • Process and balancepayroll runs verify and identify labor distribution identify balancing errors and notify payroll post general ledger and generate and distribute site reports
  • Ensure sound business practices and procedures are adhered to as prescribed by the USFR and state regulations; maintain chart of accounts
  • Record monitor and verify revenues expenditures and budget for various district funds in order to approve/deny purchase requisitionsLimited Value Purchaseorders andPersonnel Action Request Forms (PARFs) to ensure compliance with state regulations; review and approve/deny travel and conference registration requests
  • Approve verify and correct bond301 and state building programs etc planning and budget allocation worksheets PARFs requisitions LVPOs travel requests etc to ensure compliance with budget plan and state regulations
  • Preparemonthly reconciliations for district financial records to POS (InTouch) county and banking institutions records; identify variances and take corrective action
  • Prepare and transfer various district funds to County Treasurers Office; prepare balance and record deposits for banking institutions; prepare and distribute interest allocations; prepare yearend closingand new year opening transactions
  • Monitor and verify creditcard transaction postings identify variances and take corrective action
  • Initiate and send bank wire transfers for health dental flex vision property and liability accounts
  • Prepare documentation for insurance reimbursementsand reconcile to general ledger to ensure adequate balances to maintain payment process
  • Identify prepare and data entry adjusting or correcting journal entries or budget appropriation transfers for revenue expense and payroll transactions to ensure compliance with state regulations
  • Perform and process cash management functions (i.e. counting recordingauditing etc)
  • Train and educate district personnel in budget monitoring and expenditures to read financial screens and to run and interpret reports to ensure compliance
  • Assist with internal and external audits; Serve as backup to Accounting Department personnel
  • Write update modify and run queries; develop and prepare detailed financial reports including multiyear comparisons
  • Regular and ontime attendance required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

Education:

  • High School degree or equivalent

Experience:

  • Four years experience in accounting or equivalent combination of experience and education

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that the applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

Education:

  • Associate degree in accounting preferred
