In order for applications to be fully optimized they need to be architected to take advantage of the global scale elasticity automation and high availability features of the AWS cloud. On the AWS platform services such as API Gateway Lambda ECS SQS Kinesis AI and others provide opportunities to design and build cloudready applications.

AWS is looking for talented handson technical architects and senior developers to help accelerate our growing Professional Services business. Our team collaborates across the entire AWS organization to bring access to product and service teams to get the right solution delivered and drive feature innovation based upon customer needs.

We are looking for handson application architects and developers who will:
Work as a technical leader alongside customer business development and infrastructure teams
Lead technical and design discussions with IT executives to help enterprises speed their adoption of new technologies and practices
Architect and build highly scalable cloudnative applications on the AWS platform using core developer services such as: API Gateway Lambda SQS DynamoDB and ECS
Leverage new technology paradigms (e.g. serverless containers microservices)
Migrate monolithic applications to micro services architectures
Advise on implementing AWS best practices
Influence infrastructure architecture by sharing your application development expertise
Represent the voice for developers internally and influence our AWS Professional Services offerings and AWS product strategy for developers by working with AWS platform engineering Business Development and other crossfunctional teams

Our Consultants work with enterprise customers locally regionally and potentially domestically. As such Consultants will be required to travel to client locations to sell and deliver professional services as needed.

It is expected to work from one of the above locations (or customer sites) at least 1 days in a week. This is not a remote position. You are expected to be in the office or with customers as needed.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with Polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

7 years of large scale software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in two or more modern programing languages such as: Java JavaScript C/C C# Swift Python Go or Ruby
5 years of experience as a technical specialist in Customerfacing roles
Experience with Agile development methodologies and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) experience
Cloud development experience
Current active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Masters degree in Computer Science or related technical field
8 years of large scale software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in two or more modern programing languages such as: Java JavaScript C/C C# Swift Python Go or Ruby
Architecting designing and developing applications on the AWS platform and possess Cloud certifications
Designing and building application using Container and serverless technologies
Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing horizontal scalability and high availability
Good exposure to Agile software development and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Continuous Integration and automated deployment and experience with configuration management platforms (e.g. Chef Puppet Salt or Ansible)
Extensive experience building backend and frontend components in the cloud

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
