JOBTITLE:SummerSchoolHighSchoolAdministrator

LOCATION:Urbana HighSchool

SUPERVISOR: Superintendent or Designee

SUPERVISES: Building Staff

JOBSUMMARY: The Urbana HighSchoolSummerSchoolPrincipal provides transformational educational leadership with a focus on equity to promote educational development for all students and the professional development of each staff member. Responsibilities include implementing a highqualitysummerprogram for students and building a positiveschoolclimate during thesummer. Candidates should have outstanding skills in student and family engagement leadership for equity professional development and community partnerships.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:To perform thisjobsuccessfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills in supporting high student outcomes and educational excellence.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of instructional programming.
  • Articulate a clear vision for the needs of students and theschool focusing on student outcomes through a lens of racial equity.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills to supportschooland district goals and foster positive relationships throughout theschoolcommunity.
  • Assist in the planning implementing and evaluating thesummerschoolprogram.
  • Provide input into thesummerprograms master schedule and planned activities.
  • Supervise and monitor students in the program to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Supervise and support the instructional needs of teaching staff during thesummerprogram.
  • Supervise support staff members during thesummerschoolprogram (i.e. teaching assistants clerical/office staff or student relations supervisors).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and effective use of technology in instruction management and communication.
  • Create an environment where teachers support staff and students achieve mutual understanding high morale and the best working conditions.
  • Manage allsummerassessment data pre or postdata collected in accordance with all privacy acts and district policy.
  • Provide input into and monitor thesummerschoolprogramming budget process to ensure adequate funding for thesummerschoolprogram.
  • Helps prepare thesummerschoolbudget within established limits and apportions that budget to variousschoolprograms.
  • Monitors and supervises all expenditures.
  • Establish good relationships with students staff parents and community members.
  • Take all necessary precautions to ensure students and staff members safety health and wellbeing including following emergency plans during thesummerschoolprogram.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree from an accredited college or university with training in administration supervision or curriculum development at the secondary level
  • Five years of successful teaching experience preferably at the secondary level
  • Three years of successful administrative or teacher leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in building an inclusive and equityorientedschoolculture
  • Illinois Licensure with Administrative Endorsement
  • A current USD116 employee not assigned to an administrative position during the 2425 schoolyear

  • An administrative leadership style based on positive relationships and a continuous improvement model
  • Ability to be a strong collaborative leader with an honest transparent and inclusive style.
  • Proven indistrict teacher leadership in the areas of curriculum student achievement assessments and the development of a positiveschoolclimate
  • Ability to inspire excellence in others
  • Vision compassion and enthusiasm for effective team leadership to motivate high standards and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction at the secondary level

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Benefit information can be found on the Human Resources webpage.
  • Salary Rate is $52/hour
  • This is not an exempt position.
  • This is asummeronly position not in the collective bargaining unit and it is an administrative position for thesummer.
  • This position may be shared between two people for the program dates described above.

START DATE:SummerProgram Session1 will start on June 9 and end on June 26 Monday through Thursday8:001: 2 will start onJune 30 and end on July 17 Monday through Thursday8:001:00.
