Position Overview: Reporting to the Senior Director of People and Culture the People & Culture Generalist is responsible for performing various human resources functions related to recruitment and retention benefits administration and the ongoing cultivation of the Museums workplace. The People & Culture Generalist regularly handles highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion diplomacy and tact fostering a culture of inclusion and professional growth that will advance the organizations mission vision and values.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
Serve as a human resources professional within the Museum providing support in all areas of People & Culture strategy creation and implementation.
Responsible for all aspects of benefits administration including invoice reconciliation enrollments employee education facilitating claims questions filing of STD and LTD claims etc.
Administers FMLA/LOA and accommodation requests.
Administers workers compensation program including filing of claims annual reporting/audits and returntowork.
Support HRIS (AmCheck) including data entry issue resolution time clock report generations employee inquiries and payroll reconciliations.
Plays an integral role in 401(k) plan administration including facilitating enrollment participant education processing change requests distributions hardship withdrawals compliance filings etc.
Supports the Museums recruitment and onboarding efforts including job postings applicant review interviews selection reference and background checks and coordination of new hire orientation and other onboarding activities.
Works with department management to evaluate needs and maintain adequate staffing levels.
Participates in drafting updating and managing job descriptions and other employeerelated documents.
Maintains and updates the filing system for the People & Culture department including personnel medical and vendor files.
Serve as an advocate for a workplace founded on mutual respect consistent with the Museums Core Value that welcomes and celebrates diversity.
Supports performance management programs including regular meetings with staff in supervisory roles ensuring that staff performance is accurately and timely assessed and thoughtful professional development is advanced
Coordinates exit interview process including the dissemination of information.
Supports Sr. Director and COO in employee relations matters workplace investigations and conflict resolution as needed.
Participates in the identification planning and of employee training and development needs.
Participates in drafting workplace policies ensuring all policies are in accordance with current laws and best serve the needs of the organization.
Coordinates 90day exit and other employee interviews including the dissemination of information gleaned as appropriate.
Demonstrates leadership in fostering an organizational culture that values innovation promotes inclusion and inspires excellence in the workplace.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws and regulations that affect the workforce.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:
A minimum of four years of progressive responsibility in the human resources field is required. Prior experience in a cultural or entertainment attraction is desired.
Experience with the recruitment and support of exempt and nonexempt staff including parttime employees is required.
Strong interpersonal facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
Proven ability to engage individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Exceptional judgment and trustworthiness. High integrity and ethical character.
Demonstrated history of handling sensitive and/or confidential information with discretion and tact.
Superior attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills including business writing and public speaking.
High competence with traditional office software (Word Excel PowerPoint PDF).
Previous experience with HRIS preferably AmCheck/iSolved platform.
Ability to work independently eagerness to solve problems and a commitment to accepting responsibility.
Occasional weekend and evening availability is required.

Education:A bachelors degree is required; PHR / SPHR certification is desirable.
