Position Summary:

Reporting to Director Credit Risk Management the Manager Default Management is responsible for leading a team that manages the portfolio of escalated default mortgage files. In addition the team member is responsible for the reporting and tracking of losses process improvement employee engagement and overseeing recovery efforts.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Relationship management with law firms property managers and realtors.
  • Loss forecasting and mitigation strategies.
  • Residential asset management and disposal.
  • Default trend and market analysis.
  • Training of all new Default Management team members.
  • Negotiate forbearance agreements for clients in default maintaining established objectives for delinquencies and net losses.
  • Handling of escalated customer complaints.
  • Continuous review of risk controls complying with regulatory requirements pertaining to collections and enforcement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to review early delinquencies or ensure payments are correctly processed.
  • Ability to recognize escalate and make recommendations for complex issues or risk mitigation to Sr Management.
  • Continuous process/policy improvement and efficiency.
  • Ownership of complex reporting updates.

Qualifications & Experience:

Degrees Diplomas & Certifications:

  • The position requires a university degree.

Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in mortgage default/collections.
  • Thorough understanding of collections/recovery practices and mortgage enforcement practices in Canada.
  • Employee engagement champion.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office Outlook Word Excel etc.
  • Exceptional timemanagement organization and attention to detail with the proven ability to multitask and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of setting real estate listing prices and negotiating sale prices.
