Position purpose:

Lead and subject matter expert in all conference sport regulations in U SPORTS OUA and the RSEQ including but not limited to Athletic Financial Awards scheduling training camps start dates recruitment etc.

The incumbent is responsible for constructing a robust eligibility and compliance structure that ensures coaches volunteers and studentathletes are acting within regulatory requirements in order to ensure the institution is operating in good standing with national conference regulatory bodies and to avoid reputational damage.

In this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Leads the Varsity Athletics studentathlete compliance processes that are aligned with conference and national governing bodies as well as uOttawa policies related but not limited to academic results recruiting transfer regulations athletic financial aid gender equity compassionate appeals repatriation from NCAA and doping control education and violations.
  • Design and executes all Athletic Financial Aid (AFA) processes and directs the development TORs to strategically enhance studentathlete support while ensuring alignment to regulatory requirements of governing bodies.
  • Represents uOttawa on conference and national governing body committees and leads the sport technical aspects when hosting conference or U SPORTS national championships in order to develop the Canadian university sport landscape and ensure a positive image for uOttawa within this landscape.
  • Ensures that the University of Ottawa is compliant with all sport technical aspects of hosting regular season games exhibition and playoffs games.
  • Plan leads and implements the annual preseason studentathlete orientations which include the orientation seminars and registration process for Varsity studentathletes.
  • Leads all video review process within the regulations of OUA and the RSEQ.
  • Establish and implement minimum coaching certification requirements and ensure conformity to the Varsity Risk Management Plan and measures.

What you will bring:

  • University degree preferably a graduate degree in Sport Science or Sports Management or another combination of training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for the job.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the application of regulations of the Canadian University Sport System and related organizations and regulatory bodies (e.g. Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport).
  • Bilingual French and English (spoken and written).
  • Recognized experience of issues related to that of highperformance sport.
  • Ability to plan for the short medium and long term to develop performance indicators and to take appropriate actions to achieve objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership human resources management and change management as well as strong interpersonal skills that leverage consultation analysis and feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning development management and implementation of complex projects and programs related to the field.
  • A professional level of judgment and experience in building relationships within a professional academic and communitybased settings.
  • It requires availability to frequently work evenings and weekends and to travel on occasion.

The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.



Prior to May 1 2022 the University required all students faculty staff and visitors (including contractors) to be fully vaccinated against Covid19 as defined in Policy 129 Covid19 Vaccination. This policy was suspended effective May 1 2022 but may be reinstated at any point in the future depending on public health guidelines and the recommendations of experts.
