Position Information:

• This is an onsite position in Pontiac IL.
• This position may require 10 travel per year.
• Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Role Definition:

Supports process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety quality velocity and cost of manufacturing. This will include designing and developing control systems for various applications including manufacturing automation and process control utilizing PLCs HMIs and other automation equipment to achieve desired system performance.

What You Will Do:

• Providing technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
• Implementing major systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant.
• Communicating with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product.
• Providing guidance to manufacturing engineers and operators in order to develop high quality products and processes.

What You Will Have:

Expert level PLC programming and troubleshooting on multiple platforms and OEMs.

Expert level SCADA system development including visualization techniques.

Expert level in IoT infrastructure and network level 1 integration techniques.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches tools techniques for recognizing anticipating and resolving organizational operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.
• Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.
• Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.
• Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
• Uses factfinding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decisionmaking process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.

Manufacturing Best Practices and Standards: Knowledge of best practices and standards for improving the effectiveness efficiency and safety of the design production and distribution of manufacturing products; ability to create and implement best practices and standards for various manufacturing processes and activities.

• Cites examples of industry best practices and their relevance to the organization.

• Locates and interprets best practice documentation and information sources.
• Names the manufacturing processes that can be streamlined from the implementation of best practices.

Manufacturing Process Design and Development: Knowledge of how to develop or design a manufacturing process; ability to establish and determine which processes and parameters should be opted to improve functionality and costs.

• Lists essential steps in integrating a manufacturing process.

Capacity Planning & Management MFG: Knowledge of tools approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Documents major considerations of product promotions and analyzes their effect on production and required capacity.
• Provides management reports on actual and projected capacity requirements.
• Uses available tools to interpret forecasts and work out required capacity.
• Participates in developing shortterm capacity requirements for a specific product or plant.
• Collects and collates key elements of demand chain used in developing capacity requirements.

Change Control MFG: Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified evaluated approved monitored and documented; ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively.

Level Basic Understanding:

• Explains the basic purpose of change control and consequences of lack of control.
• Identifies common changes to manufacturing equipment technologies and systems.
• Describes the process for introducing any change to a production environment.
• Describes the associated communication requirements activities and authorization levels.

Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Discusses considerations for work cell design and effectiveness monitoring.
• Finds solution for key technical and people problems associated with transformation to lean.
• Explains issues and considerations of implementing lean in own function or area.
• Selects and utilizes tools techniques and measurements associated with a lean assessment.
• Explains benchmarks and measures of effectiveness of lean.
