System Development Engineer Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast reliable internet to customers and communities around the world and weve designed the system with the capacity flexibility and performance to serve a wide range of customers from individualhouseholds to schools hospitals businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Export Control : This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. governmentimposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.

In this role you will be a key member of the team providing the tools and systems needed to design build and operate the organizations services. You will own and operate infrastructure critical to Project Kuiper including engineering applications AWS Cloud Infrastructure and local servers. Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous possesses strong written and verbal communication skills strong project management and time management skills and has a successful track record of delivering largescale engineering projects. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced collaborative environment is essential.

Key job responsibilities
Design build and maintain infrastructure as code for our hybridcloud Siemens engineering applications
Monitor system performance ensuring uptime scalability and reliability of applications and Infrastructure
Analyze current infrastructure capacity and forecast future needs to support organizational growth.
Day to day support of existing Siemens applications on AWS and onpremise
Automate Siemens deployment and administration of Siemens engineering tools
Drive an environment of continuous improvement and operational excellence
Anticipate bottlenecks make tradeoffs and encourage risktaking to maximize business benefit
Actively participate in Agile/Scrum development processes contributing to sprint planning daily standups and retrospective meetings

As part of Kuiper Enterprise Technology team you will further deepen your technical expertise and proficiency in systems design navigate operational challenges of a highly available system under load and hone your skills as a leader and communicator. You will collaborate with and learn from some of the strongest software security and infrastructure engineers in the industry and leverage Amazons ample resources to innovate on behalf of our customers.

Experience leading the design automation deployment and support of largescale infrastructure
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C C# Java Python Golang PowerShell Ruby
Experience with Linux/Unix
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Experience with distributed systems at scale

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
