EvenUp is one of the fastestgrowing generative AI startups in history on a mission to level the playing field for personal injury victims which range from motor vehicle accidents to child abuse cases. Our AI Platform team is looking for a backendfocused Software Engineers who will join us in our mission to make LLMs more accessible and mainstream to the rest of our engineering teams. The team has already built and released some of the best legal industry large language models that extract and summarize data from documents our clients provide. This person will join a multidisciplinary team of Data Scientists Researchers and Software Engineers whose daytoday work lies at the intersection of programming LLM integration and iterative experimentation. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to take on complex engineering challenges in the field of generative AI and leverage the power of technology to bring fairness and accessibility to the legal system.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week spent collaborating with the team in the office. We are open to applicants located in either the San Francisco Bay Area Los Angeles or the Greater Toronto Area.
What youll do:
Spearhead the design development and optimization of robust scalable systems and infrastructure for deploying pioneering algorithms and systems based on large language models.
Engage actively throughout the project lifecycle taking full ownership from inception to deployment and subsequent iterations.
Grow as an engineer by working with worldclass peers on varied and high impact projects.
Work with internal engineering customers to understand new requirements and address them in a scalable and efficient manner.
Implement robust maintainable reusable code in a modern techstack including Python Postgres Kubernetes Elasticsearch and other technologies.
What we look for:
Extensive experience building frameworks libraries and distributed systems with a focus on reliability observability and performance.
Demonstrated proficiency in developing highquality software delivering productionready code managing infrastructure and crafting RESTful APIs to industry standards.
Clear structured thinking and a track record of delivering complex projects.
Startup experience with the ability to thrive in a dynamic fastpaced collaborative and growthoriented environment.
Experience in Python or other programming languages such as Go Java or C
Bonus: experience in AI legal tech and social impact projects.
