Bring your strong organisational and communication skills to this dynamic role supporting coursework programs in the School of Biomedical Sciences. As the Academic Support Officer you will manage a portfolio of subjects and related activities working closely with academic staff students the Faculty Teaching and Learning Unit and University Services.

You will provide accurate advice on policies and procedures coordinate subject administration and maintain high levels of accuracy using complex database systems. You may also provide secretariat support to Teaching and Learning committees. This is a collaborative and fastpaced role where your attention to detail timemanagement skills and ability to work effectively with others will help ensure a smooth academic experience for both students and staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • The incumbent will be responsible for the administration of a portfolio of academic subjects. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with exam processes special consideration process management database management Canvas support and responding to student and staff enquiries.
  • Provide secretariat support to relevant Boards of Examiners and Teaching Committees and organise relevant meetings as required. Provide advice to these meetings on procedural matters.
  • Provide advice to academic staff and students on academic policy and procedure and identify where there is a gap in such policy and procedure and refer the matter to supervisor.
  • Liaise effectively with academic and relevant departmental school faculty and University staff to ensure that task deadlines are clearly identified communicated and achieved.
  • Provide backup for other staff in times of absence or peak periods.

You may be a great fit if:
We are looking for a proactive and detailoriented administrator with a passion for supporting staff and students within a University setting. In this role you will use your strong organisational and communication skills to prepare reports coordinate workflows and provide seamless support to stakeholders.

You also have:

  • Completion of an undergraduate tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Highly developed administrative and organisational skills with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a serviceoriented environment including possessing the ability to exercise judgement and initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to prepare reports committee papers agendas and minutes correspondence and student information guides.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with students and staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and implement policy and procedure.
  • Excellent computer skills including a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (in particular Microsoft Excel) as well as the capacity to learn and use inhouse administrative database systems.

As part of the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences since 2015 the School comprises three Departments Departments of Anatomy and Physiology Biochemistry and Pharmacology and Microbiology and Immunology.
