Job Description
The School of Music at Marshall University invites applications for a tenuretrack position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2024. Primary responsibilities include: teaching applied violin and viola students recruiting for the strings area coaching string chamber ensembles keeping an active professional performance profile As a secondary area of specialization the successful candidate should be adept at teaching music theory and aural skills courses and could be asked to teach courses in music education and/or to conduct the orchestra depending on the strengths of the candidate and school needs. The School of Music also seeks candidates who will contribute to the Universitys general education curriculum and its emphasis on using highimpact teaching practices particularly those affiliated with one (or more) of the institutions pedagogical initiatives (e.g. Communitybased Learning Critical Thinking First Year Seminar Writing Across Curriculum etc.. Additionally the ideal candidate will contribute to the Colleges support of interdisciplinary programs of study. Doctoral degree in Music ABD considered) with professional performance experience and evidence of successful recruitment and teaching.
