Shift Superintendent Southport NCBasic Function:To lead and coordinate plant operations with responsibility for all aspects of the plant including safety environmental quality personnel and production.
General Job Duties:- Maintains a global understanding of the plant operations and is responsible for decision making in all areas of the operation in the absence of dayshift management.
- Coordinates the actions of the various departments on nights and weekends to ensure production goals and product quality.
- Indirectly supervises shift foremen and shift hourly employees on nights and weekends.
- Ensure safety environmental and quality compliance at all times and be proactive in your support and participation in the company safety program.
- Is the Incident Commander on shift and is responsible for coordinating initial response to any incident.
- Ensures shift maintenance safety training is completed in a timely manner.
- Develops employees to focus on safety behaviors of themselves and their fellow employees.
- Ensures that Incident Investigation Reports are completed in a timely manner for incidents that occur on their shift.
- Knowledgeable and responsible for environmental compliance and decisions on reportable issues.
- Maintains an understanding and proactively addresses quality issues throughout the plant.
- Coordinates and follows through on personnel issues that arise on shift.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies procedures and practices and recommends changes and/or improvements as needed.
- Mentors new Shift Foreman and operators.
- Works with the Shift Foreman and Department Superintendents to identify training needs and coordinate the training of employees establishing a high level of skill and job proficiency.
- Provides input on hourly shift personnel to Shift Foremen and provides feedback to Department Superintendents regarding the performance of the Shift Foremen.
- Maintains discipline within the shift and discuss the need for appropriate disciplinary action with the Department Superintendent and Human Resources Manager.
- Ensures completion of requests and instruction in individual department communications.
- Work on special projects as assigned by the Plant Superintendent and assists Department Superintendents with project work.
- Coordinates all maintenance resources in the absence of dayshift maintenance management. Strives to adhere to the schedule to maximize efficiency while addressing any immediate plant operational needs.
- Is the main contact for all security issues in the absence of dayshift management.
- May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Hourly and salaried nonexempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
