Are you ready to shape the technological future of North Carolina The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) seeks a dynamicIT Enterprise Architect to join the Enterprise Architecture & Innovation organization. The IT Enterprise Architect will work on a team alongside other IT Architects to ensure state applications and solutions meet the desired standards governance and architecture framework. This role puts you at the intersection of innovation and practical implementation where your expertise will help transform how North Carolina citizens interact with government services. Join our team to modernize state technology infrastructure and create lasting technical frameworks for the future.

As IT Enterprise Architect youll evaluate how technology solutions align with business needs across state agencies. Youll also contribute to system design and analysis supporting state agencies using NCDITs cloud and datacenter infrastructure while participating in architecture reviews for enterprise IT projects and State IT Procurement.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Reviewing guiding and supporting enterprisewide IT projects and IT procurements governed by enterprise architecture
  • Collaborating with an enterprisewide stakeholder group to assess develop and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy and governance in alignment with the state of North Carolinas goals and objectives
  • Evaluating current technology infrastructure and applications to identify areas of improvement and opportunity
  • Establishing and upholding statewide enterprise architecture principles guidelines and best practices to ensure consistency interoperability security and optimization
  • Assessing potential risks associated with initiatives as it relates to enterprise architecture and working with stakeholders to improve protect and secure

To qualify for this position applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:


The following Management Preferences are not required but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
  • Experience creating aligning and/or executing enterprise architecture roadmaps (e.g. aligning to business strategy and mapping business strategy to IT capabilities and technology solutions)
  • Experience implementing IT governance frameworks
  • Experience in cloud computing data analytics cybersecurity and emerging technologies

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressive experience in all areas of information technology architectural components interfaces and their applications or related work;
OR
Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years of progressive experience in all areas of information technology architectural components interfaces and their applications or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

HYBRID/FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES:

At NCDIT we are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and flexible work environment offering a hybrid remote work option for positions that are conducive to remote flexibility. If you do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned duty station new hires are granted up to 120 days from their start date to relocate.
