Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Provides faculty development support consults on effective pedagogy assessment and/or course design and assists with implementing strategies for student success.

This is an inperson position on the Boise State campus although up to two remote work days per week are negotiable. The successful candidate must be or be willing to move to within commuting distance to Boise State. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is the nucleus of a university culture that values teaching and learning. We support promote and enhance evidencebased teaching practices to positively impact all student learning and success. CTL staff foster dialogue scholarship innovation and excellence in learnercentered teaching and promote teaching and scholarship that mutually enhance one another for the benefit of students faculty and the community. The CTL reports to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies in the Provosts Office.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills policies and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of programs that support faculty in effective teaching.
  • Consult with individual instructors to analyze needs and determine goals for student learning.
  • Design and facilitate workshops and other interventions that support student learning.
  • Contribute to the delivery of recurring CTL programming and resources including consultations Midsemester Assessment Protocols and recurring events.
  • Engage with current trends and technologies in the field of higher education through participation in conferences professional organizations and/or professional development opportunities as well as reviewing the literature.
  • Engage together with CTL staff in ongoing documentation assessment and improvement of the work of the unit.
  • Teach one class per academic year as available in their discipline.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
  • Experience with and knowledge of effective teaching strategies in higher education.
  • Basic understanding of pedagogical practices that support all student learning
  • Ability to draw from current scholarship around effective teaching and learning.
  • Ability to be both a collaborative team member and work independently.
  • Strong verbal written and visual communication skills.
  • Effective facilitation and consultation skills.
MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (PhD. EdD or Terminal Degree in a discipline).
  • Scholarly engagement in the field of teaching and learning (e.g. conference presentations published articles presentations for professionals).
  • Ability to facilitate professional development in various formats for professional audiences including facilitating inperson and virtual events.
  • Ability to build and manage constructive relationships with faculty instructional staff and other campus partners.
  • At least one year of experience working with faculty members and/or teaching in higher education.
Salary and Benefits:
The minimum starting salary for this position is $53456.00 rising to $60000 commensurate with State University provides a bestinclassbenefits package including (but not limited to):
