- The Civil Engineer Trainee participates in an onthejob training program designed to provide a broad understanding of the roles and functions that traditionally require the engineering skills abilities and knowledge of a PennDOT Civil Engineer.The employee in this position performs civil engineering assignments to develop engineering skills and to achieve working knowledge of all phases of PennDOT operations. Exposure to engineering areas of Design Construction Maintenance Highway Safety and Traffic through onthejob learning activities will prepare the incumbent to advance into a permanent career position within the District.Interested in learning more Additional details regarding this position can be found in theposition description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Fulltime employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.
- Ad hoc limited telework ability during probationary period
- Salary:Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64861.00(before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:- Four years of civil engineering experience and an EngineerinTraining certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelors degree in civil engineering or in a closely related field which includes or was supplemented by major course work in civil engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes possession of an EngineerinTraining certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- This position also requires possession of a valid drivers license which is not under suspension.
- PA residency requirementis currently waived for this title.
