A little about the Early Intervention Department
The Early Intervention (EI) Department offers earlyintervention and childrens mental health programs designed to reduce risk andenhance the development of substanceexposed children (prenatal 6 yrs).They provide services which address maternal substance use concerns and relatedissues and the parenting relationship through community based crosssystemicpartnership. The EI department also conducts evaluation andresearchactivities focused on issues relevant to programming and services provided tofamilies. The programs available are but not limited to:Breakingthe Cycle ParentInfant Program BTC Pregnancy Outreach Program.
Job summary
As our newest PregnancyOutreach Worker you will play a crucial role inproviding support information assistance and advocacy services to unhousedand pregnant people who are using substances and are having difficultyestablishing and maintaining a stable living environment accessing orfollowing through with mental health and addiction treatment or who havedifficulty engaging in and utilizing needed services.
Reporting to the Manager of Early Intervention Programs youll work alongside a team of dedicated staff and community partners collaborating to provide the highest quality support to our clients. Sound exciting Heres a little more...
As a Pregnancy Outreach Worker you will
- Facilitate and support of referrals of unhoused pregnant substanceusing people to other appropriate services
- Share knowledgewith clients regarding community resources available
- Promote the use of services such as primary health care prenatal care medically managed withdrawal programs and methadone programs
- Help decrease isolation and marginalization and assist in pregnancyplanning for the pregnant person and their child
- Provide reports/information to child welfare the court probation/parole and others involved as required
- Complete and maintain all necessary documentation related to service delivery and program evaluation in a timely manner
- Participate in team meetings case conferences case planning and clinical consultation meetings
- Liaise with community partners and service providers who have contact with unhoused pregnant people using substances
You will be set up for success if youhave
- Bachelors degree or community college diploma insocial work social service work addictions and mental health housing andstreet outreach or other relevant disciplines
- Minimum 3 years of experience in working with clients facing addictions
- Experience in working with highrisk families and experience in engaging in delivery of individual and group services as it relates to addiction services
- Strong working knowledge of Child Youth & Family Services Act
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector police reference check
- Immunizations and health assessment in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act
