Job Description

Contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join a Children and Young Peoples Disability Team.
The role involves supporting children and young people with disabilities ensuring their needs are assessed supported and reviewed in line with statutory responsibilities and best practice.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Undertake assessments of children and young people with disabilities and their families under relevant legislation.
Develop implement and review care and support plans tailored to the individual needs of children and young people.
Work closely with multi-agency partners including education health and voluntary services to ensure a joined-up and child-centred approach.
Carry out statutory functions including safeguarding investigations CIN plans and looked after child reviews as required.
Provide direct support and advice to families advocating for the rights and needs of children with disabilities.
Maintain accurate up-to-date case records in line with organisational procedures and statutory guidance.
Participate in case discussions team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.

Skills/Experience:
Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England (SWE)
Proven experience in children s social care particularly working with children and young people with disabilities
Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 Care Act 2014 and associated safeguarding frameworks
Understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and multi-agency working
Excellent assessment planning and report writing skills
Ability to manage a complex caseload effectively within statutory timescales
Confident in working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and in challenging situations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage families professionals and partner agencies

Additional Information:
Vacancy for social worker in the children and young persons disability team - to start as soon as possible.
Enhanced DBS required prior to appointment.
This is a full-time role (36 hours per week) working Monday to Friday 09:00 17:00.
