Job Position: School Counselor
Location: Nance Elementary
Reports to: Tasha Jefferson Principal
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate loving and dedicated individual to join our team as a PreK1st Grade School Counselor. This position plays a vital role in supporting the social emotional and academic development of our youngest learners. The ideal candidate is someone who is deeply committed to the health wellbeing and education of all students and who fosters a nurturing environment where every child can grow and thrive.
Our school values open and respectful communication with families and the counselor will serve as a key partner in building strong homeschool relationships. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with diverse populations of students their families and staff demonstrating cultural responsiveness empathy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students in PreK through 1st grade
- Support students socialemotional development and behavior through ageappropriate strategies
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement classroom interventions and positive behavior support
- Communicate regularly with families offering guidance resources and support
- Assist with the development and implementation of schoolwide socialemotional learning programs
- Monitor student progress and maintain confidential records
- Serve as a liaison between home school and community resources
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in School Counseling or a related field
- Valid Oklahoma School Counselor certification
- Experience working with early childhood or elementaryaged students preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal collaboration and communication skills
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate academic practices and socialemotional learning theories
- Proficiency with technology including student information systems and digital communication tools
