Position Criteria:
- High School Diploma preferred
- Custodial Experience: 02 years required 35 years preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with students teachers building administrators coworkers and supervisors
Performance Responsibilities:
- Complete assigned building daily expectations including vacuuming trash collection and removal stocking supplies sweeping mopping floor cleaning restrooms and lunch room clean up in some buildings laundry. Instruction provided on card for required chemicals and protective equipment required.
- Clean up spills (including bodily fluids) throughout the building promptly as needed.
- Verifies evening schedule and prints for night staff
- Maintain safe walkways using snow shovel snow blower and ice melt as needed during the winter months.
- According to electronic work orders assist staff with duties such as unlocking doors minor equipment repair and assisting in moving materials. May also require entering a ticket to the maintenance department for in depth repair.
- Assist with inventory of custodial supplies including retrieving supply delivery checking supplies in and organizing into custodial workspace.
- Assist in training new custodial employees
- Complete assigned building monthly task list including preventative maintenance such as fire extinguishers and floor scrubbing machines.
Physical Demands:
- The custodian physical job demands include: Occasional maximum lift of 50 lbs from waist to above shoulder; Occasional maximum lift of 50 lbs from floor to waist; frequent maximum lift of 30 lbs from floor to shoulder; frequent carry of 50 lbs 10 feet; occasional maximum horizontal push/pull of 20 lbs; occasional maximum vertical pull of 25 lbs; frequent maximum grip of 20 lbs; frequent climb to 8 inches; occasional overhead reach; occasional trunk rotation; frequent reach forward to 24 inches; frequent bending; frequent standing; frequent walking; frequent balance. PDC Level: Heavy based on maximum floor to shoulder lift.
Working Conditions:
- The custodial position is primarily indoors but you may be required to work outside for various tasks in extreme temperatures. Extreme temperatures are categorized by greater than 90 degrees and less than 40 degrees.
