Job Description

HPM is a General Contractor located in Englewood Colorado with a focus in three primary working groups; 1 Federal 2 Commercial and 3 Civil. We work all throughout the front range and select locations throughout Colorado as well as key projects out of state. We pride ourselves in managing clean organized and professional projects from start to finish with an emphasis on successful client relationships. Much of our work is for repeat clients including local governments private clients and the federal government. We utilize proven project management fundamentals on each of our projects.

Position Summary:

The Accountant / Payroll Specialist plays a key role in supporting project teams by managing financial processes ensuring compliance and maintaining accurate accounting records. This role also oversees payroll processing and supports employees with payrollrelated inquiries.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Build strong working relationships with Operations teams and proactively learn project workflows.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project financials to support internal and external audits and tax compliance.
  • Understand and support the client subcontractor and vendor billing processes emphasizing the importance of timely and accurate billing documentation for effective cash flow management.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls related to purchasing workflows including goods procurement invoice receipt and payment processes.
  • Perform monthly analysis of vendor and subcontractor accounts to identify missing invoices or pay applications.
  • Review and validate pay applications for accuracy completeness tax compliance and adherence to company policy and accounting standards.
  • Ensure pay applications include proper documentation such as approvals waivers certificates of insurance (COIs) and correct payment amounts.
  • Generate monthly COI reports track renewal periods and notify Project Managers of expired certifications.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for projectrelated monthly accruals.
  • Review and adjust project costs budget structures and quantity claiming to ensure accurate cost reporting.
  • Identify and resolve forecasting and budgeting issues to ensure proper revenue and cost recognition.
  • Create and upload accurate data for monthend workbooks and project forecasts.
  • Review subcontractor change orders for completeness and ensure required documentation and approvals are in place.
  • Understand the integration and workflow between the Accounting ERP system and Project Management software.

Payroll Administration

  • Process weekly payroll using thirdparty payroll software with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain payroll records including data collection calculation and entry.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with current federal state and local labor laws.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll timecards and related matters.
  • Track and reconcile wages benefits and taxes; complete pre and postpayroll reconciliation tasks as needed.
  • Prepare payrollrelated reports and assist with timecard tracking.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • 02 years of financial/data analysis experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Economics Statistics Business Management and/or equivalent degree.

Basic Requirements:

  • A valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record is required as per company standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detailoriented with strong organizational skills adept at prioritizing and multitasking in fastpaced environments.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Motivated selfstarter dedicated to excellence and proactive problemsolving.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic committed to achieving accurate and efficient results.
  • Deep commitment to safety working closely with team members to prevent accidents/injuries.
  • Solid computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel & Outlook) with a willingness to adapt to new software.
  • Collaborative team member capable of autonomously achieving deadlines goals and objectives.
  • Ensure consistent and punctual attendance demonstrating reliability and regularity.
  • Complete tasks within designated deadlines during standard operating hours and be available for overtime and weekend work as necessary.
  • Work safely and efficiently adhering to both oral and written instructions including safety protocols equipment guidelines and company policies.
  • Sit stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds frequently.

Salary:

$65000 $75000 salaried exempt

(The selected candidates salary will be determined based on factors such as internal equity education experience specialization and training.
