Job Description

Overview
The Fleet Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing an organization s vehicle fleet ensuring optimal operation maintenance and cost management. This position is pivotal in supporting the organization s logistics and transport objectives while promoting safety efficiency and compliance with regulations. The Fleet Manager is responsible for strategic planning which includes budgeting and forecasting expenses related to fleet operations. This role demands strong leadership skills as it often involves managing a team of drivers and technicians ensuring they adhere to policies and safety regulations. The Fleet Manager also handles vendor negotiations for fleet services analyzes fleet performance data to identify areas for improvement and implements strategies to enhance overall service delivery. By ensuring the fleet operates smoothly the manager not only contributes to the company s bottom line but also plays a critical role in maintaining its public image and commitment to sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the fleet operations to ensure efficiency.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets related to fleet expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal transportation regulations.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and maintenance scheduling.
  • Implement and evaluate fleet safety programs to minimize risk.
  • Monitor fleet performance metrics and analyze data for improvements.
  • Develop and enforce company policies regarding fleet usage.
  • Negotiate contracts with vehicle suppliers and service providers.
  • Train and supervise drivers and fleet staff on operational protocols.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of fleet status to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align fleet strategy with company objectives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Implement ecofriendly practices and sustainability initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in logistics business administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or logistics.
  • Proven experience in budget management and cost control.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes.
  • Familiarity with transportation regulations and safety protocols.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with fleet management software and tools.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Certifications related to fleet management preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills essential.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices in fleet management.
  • Willingness to travel as required for inspections and audits.
