Job Description

The DK publicity department is currently seeking an Associate Publicist ORPublicistwith a focus on Childrens and Licensing titles to join the DK U.S. team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a global publisher of Adult NonFiction Life Travel Knowledge Childrens and Licensing titles. The growing list of Childrens titles includes picture books chapter books middle grade and graphic novels and the robust Licensing publishing program includesRebel Girls Lego Disney Minecraft Marvel and StarWars.

The ideal candidate will have experience strategizing on and executing PR campaigns for Childrens and Licensing titles an established network of national broadcast print and online media contacts and excel in a fastpaced dynamic environment. This position will report to the Director of Publicity of DK U.S. Additional opportunities may include campaign work on nonfiction adult titles including influencer led titles under DKs Alpha imprint.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Plans and executes publicity campaigns for multiple authors creators and brands (with more oversight from manager at Associate Publicist level).
  • Provides hightouch author care and attentive communication with authors agents and internal publishing team.
  • Develops researches and maintains strong relationships with national online podcast and local media contacts.
  • Writes creative and impactful press materials and pitches.
  • Collaborateson campaignswithDK US and DK UKChildrens and Library Marketing Publicity and Editorial colleagues.
  • Attends Childrens Library and Licensing conventions.
  • Preps authors for media interviews and events.

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 1yearof relevant experience in book publishing or PR at Associate Publicist level; Minimum 2 years of relevant experience at Publicist level
  • Strong verbal and written communication and pitching skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Existing relationships with national and regional media contacts notably in the Childrens space
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while also responding to urgent issues
  • Experience and comfort presenting in front of groups including internal meetings
  • A motivated selfstarter strategic thinker and team player
  • Proficiency with Muck Rack Excel Microsoft Office Suite

The salary for the Associate Publicist is $56000. The salary for the Publicist is $66500.00.All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus subject to company results.

This is a hybrid position with inoffice responsibilities we will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway which includes the tristate area (NJ CT & PA).
