The Lead Engineer opportunity helps individuals with industrial research experience to contribute meaningfully to advancement of technology in the areas of Electrification and Renewables. The opening is for candidates with a PhD with experience in relevant industry roles. The role is designed to provide an enriching experience for the candidate by working side by side with experts in the field completing complex technical projects applying their theoretical knowledge to reallife technical problems applying skills in a cutting edge global environment and leading projects. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Lead engineer you will:
- Conduct power systems research involving modelling and simulation of electrical components and systems designing power system controls building and testing of power system controls and simulation in hardware and including steady state faults and lab scale test circuit
- Simulate and analyze electrical systems consisting of power converters transformers filters grid electromechanical systems renewable generation conventional generation and controls in areas of stability harmonics protection transients dynamics etc.
- Develop algorithms for power systems including control protection monitoring and diagnostics
- Develop optimization dispatch and control algorithms for grid connected and microgrid systems
- Develop and implement in hardware advanced controls of electrical system hardware in the loop tests
- Collaborate with both GE Vernova product engineers and Advanced Research team members on technical projects
- Take ownership to understand business requirements
- Lead programs both individually and with team to successfully meet business program objectives
- Own program including identification and mitigation risks
- Ensure deliverables in a timely manner
- Write and orally represent the research to its business customers and at technical conferences
- Work with multidisciplinary boarder team or independently deliver based on the requirements of project
- Deliver on technical projects with set timelines and cost
- Hold self and team accountable for delivering quality outcomes on programs
- Gain an indepth understanding of key business drivers and use this understanding to accomplish own work.
- Gain an indepth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Use some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Use prior experience and onthejob training to solve straightforward tasks. Have access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with atleast 5 years of experience or a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with at least 6 years of relevant industry experience in an advanced technology development environment designing building and testing power systems controls and energy manage systems
- Strong expertise in simulation and analysis of electrical systems and electro mechanical system
- Handson hardware design and build experience in power electronics systems experimental setup
- Experience in Power system operation and control and grid integration
- Experience in power system operation and control for microgrid applications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environment
- Unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document plan market and execute programs. Established project management skills.
- Experience in system simulation tools such as PSCAD Matlab/Simulink Digsilent Power Factory etc.
- Experience in real time simulators
- Experience in power hardware development and testing including protection relays
- Experience in C Visual Studio Python
- Understanding of Signal Processing
