Mechanical EngineerJob Description Summary
Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing installing and maintaining mechanical systems within buildings such as HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning) plumbing fire protection and elevators. They work closely with architects structural engineers and contractors to ensure that mechanical systems are integrated efficiently and meet building codes and safety standards. Their role also includes overseeing system installations conducting tests and ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability in building operations.Job Description
Design and oversee the installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC plumbing fire protection and elevators for building projects.
Conduct site inspections and ensure that mechanical systems are implemented according to design specifications.
Collaborate with architects structural engineers and construction teams to integrate mechanical systems into building designs.
Review and approve mechanical drawings blueprints and other technical documentation.
Ensure compliance with local building codes regulations and safety standards.
Perform load calculations and design energyefficient mechanical systems.
Provide solutions to any mechanical issues that arise during the construction process.
Oversee the commissioning and testing of mechanical systems to ensure they function correctly.
Assist in budgeting and cost estimation for mechanical works.
Ensure that mechanical installations are completed within schedule and budget.
Monitor the performance of mechanical systems during and after installation providing ongoing maintenance support.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Proven experience in mechanical engineering within the building construction industry.
Strong knowledge of HVAC plumbing fire protection systems and other mechanical systems in construction.
Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD Revit etc. and calculation tools.
Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
LEED accreditation or knowledge of sustainable building practices.
Experience with energyefficient system design.
Strong project management and budgeting skills.
Work Environment:
This role may involve working both inoffice and onsite during various stages of construction projects. Site visits and inspections are essential for ensuring the proper installation and functioning of mechanical systems.
