Key Responsibilities
1. Route Planning & Optimization
Develop and assign efficient delivery routes adapting to realtime traffic volume shifts and unforeseen challenges.
Continuously optimize routes to improve ontime deliveries and control operational costs.
2. Driver Monitoring & Coaching
Track driver progress and location using dispatch software; provide prompt feedback on performance safety and customerservice standards.
Facilitate driver communication address issues and escalate concerns to management when necessary.
3. Physical Package Handling & OnRoute Assistance
Load and unload packages weighing up to 150 pounds in and out of vehicles.
Step in to assist drivers on routes as needed which may involve stepping in and out of vehicles frequently.
Ensure proper lifting techniques and safety protocols to minimize risk of injury.
4. Safety & Compliance
Conduct spot checks to ensure vehicles meet safety requirements (tire tread oil levels seat belt usage).
Verify pretrip inspections and compliance with DOT regulations; address any safety alerts or violations immediately.
5. Customer Service & Issue Resolution
Handle customer updates regarding deliveries proactively manage potential delays and communicate service changes or issues.
Collaborate with FedEx and other partners on pending items escalations and special requests.
6. Operational Coordination
Coordinate with mechanics to schedule vehicle repairs; maintain vehicle maintenance logs and supply inventory.
Oversee equipment (scanners batteries) to ensure everything is charged and accounted for.
7. Daily Reporting & Metrics
Provide endofday recaps detailing service metrics driver performance and any route adjustments.
Offer insights to management on areas for operational improvement and cost savings.
8. Hybrid Role Management
Work onsite for essential tasks (route dispatch physical loading/unloading vehicle checks team meetings).
Manage scheduling reporting and some driver coaching calls remotely using collaboration tools for consistent communication.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
2 years of experience in dispatching logistics transportation coordination or related operational role
Proficient in using dispatch or route management software (experience with FedEx systems is a plus)
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
Proven ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fastpaced environment
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook) or similar tools
Valid driver s license with a clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 150 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed (loading/unloading assistance safety checks)
Flexible availability including occasional weekends or extended hours as operational needs require
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance
Prior experience working with FedEx or similar delivery services
Strong problemsolving skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure
Familiarity with vehicle maintenance scheduling and safety protocols
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Customerservice oriented mindset
Ability to coach and motivate team members
