The Integrated Sensor Design and Analysis Department (ISDAD) within the Sensor Systems Subdivision (SSS) in MPDis seeking an electrooptical analyst with a focus on missile warning to join our team of scientists and engineers engaged in developing the next generation of remote sensing systems of national importance. The ISDAD team supports all aspects of advanced remote sensing system development: designing and assessing the performance of optics and electrooptical sensor systems modeling the endtoend sensing system developing innovative data processing and computer vision algorithms and producing simulated data products for new work directly influences government architecture and acquisition decisions and assists our customer counterparts with designing acquiring and fielding the most advanced capabilities in the world that are crucial for defending our nation.

As an electrooptical analyst joining the Integrated Sensor Design & Analysis Department you will continue to develop your expertise and skills in the modeling and simulation of remote sensing systems and constellations of such systems with a specific focus on overhead persistent infrared missile warning and tracking systems. In the future you will be able to apply this expertise to other types of electrooptical sensor systems (intelligence and surveillance space domain/situational awareness etc..

Work Model:This is a fulltime position based in El Segundo CA. This role is onsite due to the nature of the work with occasional flexibility for telework.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Develop and leverage cuttingedge physicsbased models for electrooptical sensor systems and constellations of sensor systems with an emphasis on overhead persistent infrared (OPIR i.e. missile warning/tracking).

  • Support the Department of Defense especially the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) on a wide variety of projects from rapiddevelopment prototypes through Class A satellites and from preproposal phases through onorbit support.

  • Conduct advanced systemofsystems analysis to enhance mission effectiveness and inform strategic decisionmaking.

  • Partner and advise government customers on best practices and solution spaces related to electrooptical system performance and requirements

  • Lead and collaborate within crossfunctional teams in developing endtoend system and performance modeling tools across multiple software interfaces

  • Communicate technical insights and strategic recommendations to government leaders and key stakeholders to drive informed decisionmaking for acquisition and architecture

What You Need to be Successful Senior Member of Technical Staff

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from a relevant technical discipline such as: Remote Sensing Imaging Science Physics Mathematics Atmospheric Science Computer Science Optical or Electrical Engineering or another related discipline

  • 4 or more years of postBachelors experience in related fields such as: remote sensing system modeling simulation design computer vision data processing calibration characterization phenomenology and/or applications of remote sensor systems

  • Demonstrable scientific programming skills

  • Experiencein modeling analysis and/or performance evaluation of electrooptical and infrared (EO/IR) remote sensing space systems

  • Willingness to travel domestically approximately 10 of time

  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

In addition to the above the minimum requirements for the Engineering Specialist include:

  • 6 or more years (in total) of postBachelors (industry or academic) experience in related fields such as: remote sensing system modeling simulation design computer vision data processing calibration characterization phenomenology and/or applications of remote sensor systems

  • Direct and relevant experience with overhead persistent infrared systems.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in STEM field including Remote Sensing Imaging Science Astronomy Physics Mathematics Atmospheric Science Computer Science Optical or Electrical Engineering Guidance Navigation & Controls or another related discipline

  • Demonstrated expertise with modeling and simulation of OPIR sensor systems particularly in C and Python including familiarity with software version control systems (git subversion)

  • Experience with any of the following: agile software development and Atlassian tools (Jira Confluence) FORTRAN evaluating sensor hardware performance missile target profiles and radiant signatures orbits and trajectories.

  • Proven experience in leadership and ability to mentor junior staff.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to nontechnical audiences including the preparation and delivery of technical briefings

  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate within crossfunctional engineering teams

  • Current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
