This is a nonpermanent position open to current DOC employees only.


The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of a nonpermanent Management Analyst 4 at Headquarters in Tumwater Washington on a fulltime basis.


Whether the work is inside a prison in community corrections or in an administrative office the Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all incarcerated individuals can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society.

Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to:


Manage projects and create process and procedures documentation using LEAN principles

  • Independently lead multidisciplinary teams in in problem solving process improvement.
  • Identify problems analyze and problem solve with teams. Provide project management to assigned projects.
  • Provide recommendations or alternate solutions to management on improvement efforts.
  • Work independently to design create and update documentation of various processes and procedures within Business Services.
  • Work independently with individuals or teams to understand capture processes and define departmental priorities and longrange goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate action plans and present feasibility to Business Services leadership for implementation.
  • Explain complex or technical information using plain language ask clarifying questions and clearly and concisely emphasize key points.
  • Work independently to research develop and present alternatives to leadership and recommend courses of action.
  • Develop standard templates.
  • Independently manage and update document library as needed.
  • Prepare documents for publishing.


SharePoint

  • Advise unit staff on design of new or existing SharePoint sites to ensure consistency and ease of useability.
  • Assist with producing documentation as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Option 1:

  • A bachelors degree or higher in English Journalism Communications Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent
  • At least three 3 years of demonstrated experience in analyzing policies editing technical writing research or information/project management.

Option 2:

  • A combination of education and experience of at least seven 7 years to include at least three 3 years of experience in analyzing policies editing technical writing research or information/project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert level proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook Excel and Word.
  • Expert level proficiency with Adobe Microsoft Publisher Power Point Prezi or Visio.
  • Ability to explain complex or technical information using plain language ask clarifying questions and clearly and concisely emphasize key points.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with tight deadlines and a high degree of political sensitivity. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective work methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in an open workspace environment with frequent distraction.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data write clearly and concisely deal practically and effectively with others in a staff relationship prepare professional reports and work on a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improving and streamlining work processes beyond specific assignment focuses on outcomes takes calculated risks.
  • Able to embrace challenges in new and creative ways.
  • Comprehends and can explain the purpose(s) of a particular project and how it relates to DOCs goals and priorities.
  • Able to explain complex or technical information using plain talk principles.
  • Actively listen to others paraphrases asks clarifying questions and clearly and concisely emphasize key messages.
  • Writes complex information plainly in formats including instructions guidance documents and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Comfortable interacting with staff members at all levels of the agency.
  • High level of workload management including organization and prioritization of tasks.

  • Builds and maintains internal and external customer satisfaction with the services offered. Anticipates customers needs and understands customers organization to be able to work through solutions readily.

Telework Details

This position may be eligible to telework after initial inoffice training is complete. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner to take proper care all stateissued equipment and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility as business requires.

  • Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire. When positive tests result further information testing and treatment will also be required. Employment is not contingent upon test results.
