Job Description
Brandeis University seeks to fill the position of the Fannie Hurst Visiting Writer a twoyear halftime faculty position is eligible for benefits and begins with the Fall 2025 semester. The salary range is $42000 to $45000 depending on the past the position has been held by John Irving Alice Walker Frank Conroy Gloria Naylor Jayne Anne Phillips and many other established and emerging writers. It carries a teaching load of five courses total. That is three courses one year two courses the other year. Candidates should be available to teach at least one course each semester. Additional responsibilities include advising Creative Writing majors and collaborating in the direction of creative writing theses and senior honors candidates would be present at the two or three readings organized by Creative Writing each semester. Candidates should provide a cover letter and cv.
The Creative Writing major resides within the English Department and is an undergraduateonly program. Creative Writing classes are small (typically capped at twelve or fourteen) and require a manuscript submission.
